About English-L
This is Romaine Liu, the list owner of English-L. I come from Beijing, China. I've been studying English as a Second Language for about ten years and it's going to be my life-time pursuit. Since I didn't have much chance to talk to native English speakers when I was in school, my progress was very slow because of the lack of practice. One and a half years ago, I began to use the Internet. Suddenly I was surrounded by a world full of interactivity and communications. This really helped me with my English very much. Ever since, I'm very interested in using the Internet as a tool of ESL study. I searched the net for a long time hoping to find a nice place to meet friends and talk about English. Because the resources of ESL are pretty low on the net, the idea of forming a ESL learners' community spring into my mind.
In my opinion, English-L is going to be a free-style forum where ESL learners meet and communicate. You can talk about anything related to the English language. I'll try to keep the environment warm and friendly without interfering with the flow of discussions. Let's work together to make English-L grow and prosper. It's up to you, list members, to decide what English will be like. Without your contributions and support, I can never make it happen.
English-L is very young. As you can see, the web site is quite primitive. But I have the confidence that we can make it one of the best places for ESL learners across the whole net in the near future. I, as the list owner, will do my best to serve you, and wish you have a pleasant time on English-L.
